Start your piano journey in a single sitting. This bite-size course walks you through keyboard layout, posture, finger numbers, first rhythms, and a simple right-hand pattern you can actually play today. Learn by doing: watch the core video, then follow our guided practise plan, quizzes, and a short performance upload to lock it in. Ideal as Lesson 1 in a broader beginner pathway.

What Will You Learn?

  • Identify Middle C and navigate the white keys in the first octave.
  • Use correct sitting posture, hand shape, and finger numbers.
  • Keep steady time with basic quarter- and eighth-note rhythms.
  • Play simple right-hand patterns and a short beginner melody.
  • Build a 7-day micro-routine to cement Day-1 skills.

Course Content

Section 1: Getting Set Up (10 min)
Lesson 1.1 — What You’ll Need (Text): instrument options, seating, hand height. Lesson 1.2 — Keyboard Geography & Posture (Text + diagram): locating Middle C; relaxed wrists; finger numbers 1–5.

Section 2: Watch & Play Along (25–35 min)
Lesson 2.1 — Main Video Lesson (Video): embedded YouTube lesson. Watch once, then replay in segments. YouTube Lesson 2.2 — Guided Practise (Assignment): C–D–E five-finger pattern at ♩=60, 4× one-minute reps; switch to E–D–C. Lesson 2.3 — Rhythm Workout (Audio/Download): clap/tap quarter- and eighth-note patterns; then play them on a single note.
